Introduction

Simply Practical, LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Well Planned mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

Data Collection and Storage

Local-First Architecture

Well Planned is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your personal data is stored locally on your device by default:

• Tasks and To-Dos: Stored locally on your device
• Appointments and Calendar Items: Stored locally on your device
• Goals and Progress: Stored locally on your device
• Notes and Private Information: Stored locally on your device
• Settings and Preferences: Stored locally on your device
• Achievement Progress: Stored locally on your device

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Your task titles, descriptions, or content
• Your notes or private information
• Your appointment details or calendar information
• Your personal goals or progress data
• Your location data (we do not request location permissions)
• Your contacts or personal address book
• Your usage patterns or behavior analytics (unless explicitly enabled)

Optional Data Collection

The app includes optional telemetry features to help improve stability and user experience. These are enabled by default and can be disabled at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Privacy Settings.

Calendar Access

Well Planned can access your device calendar (with your explicit permission) to:

• Sync Appointments: Export appointments you create in Well Planned to your device calendar
• Import Events: Import existing calendar events into Well Planned
• Two-Way Sync: Keep appointments synchronized between the app and your calendar

Important: Calendar data is only accessed locally on your device. We never upload or transmit your calendar information, appointment notes, or any other personal details to our servers or third parties.

Notifications

Well Planned uses local notifications (with your permission) to:

• Task Reminders: Alert you about upcoming tasks and deadlines
• Appointment Alerts: Notify you of scheduled appointments
• Daily Planning: Optional daily planning prompts

Important: All notifications are generated locally on your device. We do not send push notifications from remote servers or collect data about your notifications.

Premium Features

When you purchase premium features through Apple App Store or Google Play Store:

• Payment Processing: Handled entirely by Apple/Google (we never see payment details)
• Purchase Verification: We verify purchases through RevenueCat, which processes purchase receipts
• Feature Unlocking: Premium status is stored locally on your device
• No Subscription Data: We do not store your subscription details on our servers

Backup and Export

Well Planned offers backup features that allow you to:

• Export to Your Cloud: Save encrypted backup files to your own Google Drive or iCloud
• Local Export: Save backup files directly to your device
• User-Controlled: You initiate all backup operations manually

Important: When you export to cloud storage, the backup file is saved to YOUR cloud account (Google Drive or iCloud), not our servers. We never see or access these backup files.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Limited technical data may be shared with trusted processors strictly to provide app functionality and diagnostics:

Service Providers (Processors)

• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For purchase processing and app distribution
• RevenueCat: For purchase receipt validation (receives only purchase transaction IDs and receipt data, no personal content)
• Google Firebase (Crashlytics & Analytics): Optional crash and anonymous usage analytics processing; enabled by default but can be disabled at any time via in-app Privacy settings
• Your Cloud Storage Provider: If you choose to backup to Google Drive or iCloud, those services process your backup files according to their privacy policies

What We Cannot Share (Because We Don't Have It)

Due to our local-first architecture, we do not have access to and therefore cannot share:

• Your tasks, appointments, goals, or any personal planning content - stored only on your device
• Your notes or confidential information - stored only on your device
• Your calendar information - accessed only locally, never transmitted
• Your contact information - we never request or access contacts
• Your location data - we do not collect or request location permissions
• Any personally identifiable information - we don't know who you are unless you contact us

Bottom line: We built Well Planned so your personal data never leaves your device. We cannot share what we don't have.

Legal Requirements

We may be required by law to disclose information, but given our local-first architecture where your personal data stays on your device, we have virtually nothing to disclose. The only data we could potentially be asked for would be anonymous crash logs or analytics data (if you have those features enabled), which contain no personal content.

Data Export and Deletion

Your Data Rights

• Export: Use the in-app backup features to export your data to encrypted backup files
• Delete: Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device. Delete backup files from your cloud storage separately if needed.
• Backup: Optional cloud backup through your chosen provider (iCloud or Google Drive) - you control where backups are stored
• Access: All your data is accessible directly in the app at any time

Data Portability

Your exported backup data is in encrypted JSON format. With the decryption key (that you control), this data is portable and readable.

Analytics and Crash Data Deletion

If you enabled analytics or crash reporting and wish to request deletion of that data:

• Disable the features in Settings → Privacy & Security → Privacy Settings
• Contact us at [email protected] to request deletion of historical data
• Firebase automatically deletes crash and analytics data after their retention period (typically 60-90 days)

Security

Local Security

• Device Protection: Your data security depends on your device's security (lock screen, biometrics)
• App-Level Security: Optional biometric authentication for app access (premium feature)
• Encryption: Backup files are encrypted with AES-256 encryption
• Secure Storage: Sensitive data stored using platform-specific secure storage (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore)

Network Security

• Minimal Network Usage: App functions fully offline; network used only for premium purchases and optional analytics/crash reporting (if enabled)
• Secure Connections: All network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• No Remote Storage: We do not store your personal data on remote servers

Permissions We Request

Well Planned requests the following permissions, and explains why before asking:

• Calendar Access: To sync appointments with your device calendar (optional, with explicit rationale before requesting)
• Notifications: To send local reminders for tasks and appointments (optional, with explicit rationale before requesting)
• Storage: To save and restore backup files (only when you initiate backup operations)
• Biometric Authentication: To secure app access with fingerprint/face recognition (optional premium feature)

You can deny any permission and the app will continue to function with limited features in that area.

Children's Privacy

Well Planned is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.

International Users

Data Transfers

Since all data is stored locally on your device, there are no international data transfers of your personal information.

Regional Compliance

• GDPR (EU): We comply with GDPR principles through our local-first design
• CCPA (California): California residents have rights to know, delete, and opt-out (all available through app settings)

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through:

• In-app notification
• App Store update notes
• Website posting at www.simplypractical.life

Data Retention

• Local Data: Retained on your device until you delete the app or clear data manually
• Backup Files: Retained in your cloud storage until you delete them
• Analytics and Crash Data: Retained according to Firebase's retention policies (60-90 days) if you enable these features
• Purchase Records: Retained by Apple/Google/RevenueCat according to their policies for transaction verification
